A Brief History of Skagit Academy
In 2004, parents collaborated with the Mount Vernon School District to begin an alternative learning program for their students.
The mission was to create a common vision to support parents in schooling their children. Several families worked collaboratively to develop a program in which they could share quality curriculum, exchange educational strategies, offer enrichment classes, and provide opportunities to socialize, interact, and learn in a group setting. The program began with 35 students in grades K-8, and has evolved and grown to include 300+ students in grades K-12, offering a high school diploma.
Today, Skagit Academy continues to emphasize the partnership of parents, staff, and students working together to provide our students with a personalized, meaningful education.
